Limewire and McAfee.

Disable Windows Firewall:

Windows XP:

1. Click Start --> Run

2. Type firewall.cpl

3. Press the Enter key

4. Click on "Off (not recommended)

5. Click OK.

Windows Vista:

1. Click Start and click Control Panel.

2. Click Security and then select Windows Firewall.

3. Click Change Settings.

4. From the window that appears, click the Advanced tab.

5. Remove the check beside the connection that you want to disable the Windows Firewall for.

6. Click OK.

Add Limewire to Program Permissions list in Personal Firewall:

1. Open McAfee Security Center

2. Click on Internet and Network and then click on 'Configure' on the right pane.

3. Expand "Firewall Protection is enabled" and click on Advanced button.

4. Select Program Permissions in the left pane and then click on the 'Add Allowed Program' button in the right pane.

5. Browse and select Limewire (.exe files) and click on Open.

6. Under 'Action' select 'Grant Full Access'

7. Click Apply and then click OK.

If the issue still persists, then perform the below steps:

Limewire Configuration:

1. Start Limewire,

2. Click on “Tools” menu bar,

3. Click “Options”,

4. Then click “Advanced” (on the left hand side),

5. Then under Advanced click “Firewall Configuration”

6. On the right hand side under “Router Configuration” you will see 3 button options

7. Choose the middle one called “Manual Port Forward”, don’t change the number, but record it for later

8. Click “Apply” and “OK”

Then exit Limewire

McAfee Security Center Configuration:

1. Start “McAfee Security Center”

2. Then from the home page, click on “Internet and Network”

3. Then on the right hand side within the services protected box, click the arrow for “Configure”

4. Then select the “Firewall protection is enabled” option and click on “Advanced” button.

5. Then on the left pane, select “System Services”

6. Then select the “Add” near the bottom of the right hand menu

7. Fill the out the form as follows

Program name: lime

Program category: (leave blank)

The next 4 port descriptions all get the number your recorded from the Limewire Manual Port Forward

Description: (leave blank)

8. “OK” the menu

9. Close McAfee Security Center
