How do I Update if SecurityCenter Doesn't Detect an Internet Connection?

Accept all cookies:

1. Open McAfee Security Center.

2. Click on Configure in the bottom right corner.

3 Select Users.

4. Click on Advanced.

5. A new window will pop up, Parental Control

6. Select the option "Prompt user to accept cookies"

7. Accept all cookies.

1. Please open McAfee Security Center.

2. Select Parental Control from the main screen of the Security Center.

3. Click on Configure.

4. In Parental Control configuration, Click on Advanced.

Cannot connect to Internet (Legacy):

Disable Firewall and download the following fix to Desktop:

Then copy it to "C:\\program files\\mcafee.com\\personal firewall" and enable Firewall.

Disable Firewall (Legacy):

1. Right-click the McAfee icon located in your systems tray.

2. Highlight Personal Firewall and click 'disable'.

Note: If personal firewall shows 'enable' it is already disabled.

Windows Crashes/ Blue screen error (Legacy):

Restart in Safe Mode and delete 'C:\\program files\\mcafee\\mcafee privacy service'

Then download the following patch and restart in Normal Mode:

Reinstall McAfee Privacy Service from online McAfee account.

Unable to login to a Website:

1. Open McAfee SecurityCenter - Parental Controls - Configure.

NOTE: There are normally two 'configure' options in the main screen of the Security Center. Select the one that is above 'View Details' not the one that is beside it.

2. Click on the Advanced button under 'Parental Controls are enabled'.

3. Check if you have any these sites listed in the blocked list. If it is listed, please remove it.

4. Then add the web site in the allowed list and cookies tab.

5. Now check for the issue, if not go to main page of Security Center and click on Configure beside 'View Details'.

6. Click on the Advanced button under the Users tab.

7. Select Parental Controls from the left hand and select to Accept All Cookies under Cookie Blocking section.

8. Click on Ok and now check for the issue.

Cannot open websites:

1. Double Click on McAfee "M" icon to open McAfee Security Center.

2. Click Internet & Network.

3. Click Configure in the right pane.

4. Under "Web browsing protection is enabled", click Advanced.

5. On the Ad, Pop-up, & Web Bug Blocking pane, uncheck all the three options.

6. Click on Ok.

Configure Internet Explorer's Security Settings (IE 6) :

1. Click Start - Run

2. Type inetcpl.cpl

3. Press Enter key

4. Click the General tab.

5. Click Settings in the 'Temporary Internet files' section.

(IE 7::: Click on the 'Settings' button under Browsing history section)

6. The Settings window appears. Under 'check for newer versions of stored pages', select Automatically.

7. Click OK.

8. Click on the Security tab.

9. Click on the Internet Web content zone.

(IE 7::: Click on the Internet icon under 'Select a zone to view or change security settings')

10. Click Default Level.

11. Click Apply.

12. Click on the Programs tab.

13. Select Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser.

14. If available, click Apply.

15. Click on the Advanced tab.

16. Click Restore defaults.

(IE 7::: Click Restore advanced settings)

17. Click Apply.

18. Click OK.

Allow Traffic on Port 443:

1. Right-click the M icon and open Security Center.

2. Click on Internet and Network.

3. Click Configure in the right pane.

4. Under "Firewall protection is enabled", click Advanced.

5. Click the System Services tab.

6. Checkmark Secure Web Server (HTTPS) Port 443.

7. Click OK.

Close the Security window.

Send Spam Mail into INBOX

1. Select Email and IM in the Security Center.

2. Click on configure.

3. Select Spam Protection is enabled.

4. CLick on Advanced.

5. A new window will open

In the left pane Select Processing.

6. Check mark the options that you would like to do.

Check Mark as Spam and move to the Spamkiller folder.

To reset the Firewall:

1. Open SecurityCenter and click on "Restore Firewall Defaults" in the left hand side.

Firewall issue (printer not shared, computers not detected in a network):

Open SecurityCenter Internet and Network Configure. Click on Advanced button under Firewall is enabled tab. Select System Services from the left and check the checkbox before "Windows File Sharing NETBIOS Ports" Click on Apply.

Now select Trusted and Banned IPs from the left and make sure that the IP addresses of your router and other computers are added in the Trusted list there. Perform these steps on all the computer and then check for the issue.

Privacy Service prompting for passwords / Stop Privacy Service From Asking to Log in if I'm the Only User :

1. Right-click the McAfee icon by your system clock.

2. Click Privacy Service.

3. Click Manage Users.

4. Click to highlight Administrator.
